Everything confirmed about GTA 6: the complete guide

Grand Theft Auto VI has had years of trailers, delays, previews and store listings, and a lot of noise around them. This guide keeps only what's confirmed. Each section says where the information comes from, and anything that comes from press previews rather than Rockstar is labelled.

Release date and platforms#

GTA VI launches on Thursday, November 19, 2026, after two delays: first from fall 2025 to May 26, 2026, then to November 19. Take-Two reaffirmed the date in May and August 2026.

It's coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. The PlayStation Store lists it as PS5 Pro Enhanced, though Rockstar hasn't said what that changes. There's no PC version announced and no version for PS4, Xbox One or Switch 2.

Price, editions and bonuses#

Standard owners can upgrade to Ultimate for $20. The physical box contains a download code, not a disc.

Buy before November 20 and you get the Vintage Vice City Pack (a '55 Vapid Stanier, a garage near Ocean Beach, retro outfits and a weapon pattern). Digital pre-orders also get one month of GTA+ for the current GTA Online. More in which edition to buy.

The story and characters#

You play as two leads, and previews report you can switch between them in free roam:

• Jason Duval grew up around hustlers, joined the Army to get out, and ended up in the Leonida Keys running errands for drug smugglers.
• Lucia Caminos was raised to fight by her father, landed in Leonida Penitentiary for protecting her family, and has vowed to only make smart moves from now on.

Rockstar has also profiled Cal Hampton, Boobie Ike, Dre'Quan Priest, the rap duo Real Dimez, bank robber Raul Bautista and Keys smuggler Brian Heder. Meet them all in our character guide.

The world: Leonida#

The game is set in the fictional state of Leonida, Rockstar's version of Florida. It has six official regions: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park. Rob Nelson of Rockstar North told press the map is about twice the size of GTA V's. There's no official square-mile figure, and Rockstar hasn't released a digital map. Gameplay from the previews#

These details come from Rockstar North's hands-off preview in 2026 and the official Extended Look footage. They're reported, not official feature lists.

• Six-star wanted levels, with police tracking your face, outfit and car. See the wanted system guide.
• A partner system: call the other lead to join you, and split driving and shooting.
• Robberies of stores, businesses and banks, plus fences for stolen goods.
• Reworked car theft, with an in-game app that scans a car's security.
• Body stats such as muscle and weight, the first since San Andreas.
• More than 600,000 NPC animations.
• Nelson's own playthrough took about 80 hours. That isn't an official length.
• Frame rate: 30 fps at launch, according to preview attendees.

Rockstar also told press there are no microtransactions and no generative AI in the game at launch.

Online#

GTA VI is sold as "a single-player experience". No online mode has been announced. Take-Two says the current GTA Online will keep being supported. Details in our GTA Online status report.

Trailers and music#

There are two numbered trailers (December 2023 and May 2025) and the roughly 27-minute An Extended Look (August 27, 2026). Watch them all on our trailers page. A 34-track album, Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, releases on November 19.

Still not confirmed#

Treat any claim about these as unverified until Rockstar says otherwise:

• A PC version, or any date for one
• Any GTA VI online or multiplayer mode
• Radio station names and the full tracklist
• The voice cast (only one actor, Stephen Root, has said he's involved)
• Final age ratings outside North America (the ESRB has rated it M), the download size, 60 fps or performance modes
• First-person mode, photo mode and cheat codes
• An official digital map, or a launch trailer
