Trailer 1: three Guinness records

The first trailer, released on the evening of December 4, 2023, drew 90,421,491 views on YouTube in its first 24 hours. Guinness World Records certified that as the most-viewed video game trailer in 24 hours. It also became the most-liked game trailer in 24 hours, with 8.9 million likes, and the most-viewed non-music YouTube video in its first day.

Two days later it had passed about 101 million views, beating the lifetime views of GTA V's 2011 trailer. By August 26, 2026, Game Informer put it at almost 290 million YouTube views.

Trailer 2: Rockstar's "biggest video launch ever"

Rockstar told The Hollywood Reporter that Trailer 2 reached more than 475 million views across all platforms in 24 hours after it premiered on May 6, 2025, and called it the biggest video launch ever.

On YouTube alone, Game Informer reported Trailer 2 at more than 178 million views by August 26, 2026.

An Extended Look: a Netflix premiere

The roughly 27-minute Extended Look premiered on Netflix at 3 p.m. ET on August 27, 2026, six hours before it reached YouTube. In its first four days it drew 31.1 million Netflix views and was Netflix's No. 1 English-language film in 87 of 93 countries, according to reports. Sensor Tower data cited by TechSpot put Netflix's web traffic up 125% around the premiere.

On Rockstar's own YouTube channel, the video had about 29.2 million views by September 26, 2026.

Two years as Most Anticipated

GTA VI also won Most Anticipated Game at The Game Awards in both 2024 and 2025.

What to take from the numbers

Views don't tell you how good a game is, but they do show how many people are watching Rockstar's every move before November 19. For every video in one place, with breakdowns of what each confirmed, visit our trailers page.
