Four days after the first delay, Rockstar released GTA 6 Trailer 2 and relaunched its official site with profiles of eight characters, six regions and about 70 screenshots.

Seventeen months after the first trailer, Rockstar Games released Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 2 on May 6, 2025. It came just four days after Rockstar moved the game to May 26, 2026, and it didn't arrive alone: Rockstar relaunched its official GTA VI site at the same time, with character profiles, region guides and about 70 screenshots.
What's new in Trailer 2
- Rockstar said the next day that the trailer was captured entirely in-game on PS5, half gameplay and half cutscenes.
- It's set to "Hot Together" by The Pointer Sisters.
- It introduces the wider cast by name, backed up by the official profiles on Rockstar's site.
Trailer 1 introduced the leads and the setting. Trailer 2, and the site that launched with it, filled in the supporting cast and the regions of the map.
Meet the people of Leonida
The official site named eight characters or acts. Here's the short version, in our own words:
| Character | Who they are |
|---|---|
| Jason Duval | Grew up around hustlers, joined the Army to escape, and drifted to the Leonida Keys running errands for drug smugglers |
| Lucia Caminos | Taught to fight by her father. Landed in Leonida Penitentiary after defending her family, and wants the comfortable life her mother dreamed of |
| Cal Hampton | Jason's friend: a conspiracy-minded homebody who listens in on Coast Guard radio |
| Boobie Ike | A Vice City street legend turned businessman, whose real passion is the label Only Raw Records |
| Dre'Quan Priest | Boobie's label partner, more hustler than gangster, chasing the wider Vice City music scene |
| Real Dimez | Rap duo Bae-Luxe and Roxy, recently signed to Only Raw |
| Raul Bautista | A seasoned, charming bank robber always recruiting for bigger jobs |
| Brian Heder | An old-school drug runner in the Keys who lets Jason live rent-free in return for help |
Our character guide goes deeper on each of them.
Six regions, one state
The site also broke Leonida into six regions: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park. Each got its own page describing the area, from Vice City's art-deco beachfront to Port Gellhorn's faded vacation strip and Ambrosia's sugar refinery.
Press have widely compared these to real Florida locations: Miami, the Florida Keys, the Everglades, the Panhandle and the sugar country around Lake Okeechobee. Those comparisons come from press coverage, so treat them as reported. We explain every region, and what's known about where they sit, in Leonida's regions explained.
Another record
Rockstar told The Hollywood Reporter that Trailer 2 pulled in more than 475 million views across all platforms in its first 24 hours, which it called the biggest video launch ever. That figure comes from Rockstar itself, and it covers every platform, so it isn't directly comparable with Trailer 1's YouTube-only record. By August 26, 2026, Game Informer reported Trailer 2 at more than 178 million YouTube views.
Why it landed after a delay
Four days earlier, on May 2, Rockstar had delayed GTA VI from its fall 2025 window to May 26, 2026, apologising and saying it needed more time. The date later moved again, to November 19, 2026.

Correction (September 27, 2026): we previously said the video carries a "Recorded on PS5" note. What Rockstar actually said, in a post on X, is that the trailer was captured entirely in-game on PS5.
