GTA 6 on PS5 vs PS5 Pro vs Xbox Series X|S: where to play
What the store listings confirm for GTA 6 on PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X|S, what previews report about 30 fps, and how to choose a console without guesswork.

On this page
GTA VI is coming to three families of hardware: PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar hasn't published a side-by-side of how it runs on each, so this guide sticks to what the official store listings say and what previews report, and tells you what's still unknown.
What each listing confirms
| PS5 | PS5 Pro | Xbox Series X|S | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Supported | Yes | Yes, listed as PS5 Pro Enhanced | Yes, Optimized for Xbox Series X|S |
| Players | 1, "Offline play only" | 1, "Offline play only" | "Single player" |

| Extras listed | Remote Play | Remote Play | Achievements, cloud saves |
PS5 Pro Enhanced: what we know
The PlayStation Store carries the PS5 Pro Enhanced label, and Rockstar's site shows a "Plays best on PlayStation 5" badge as part of a marketing partnership. What the Pro actually improves (resolution, frame rate, effects or something else) hasn't been confirmed.
Frame rate: 30 fps at launch
Journalists at Rockstar North's hands-off preview report that GTA VI runs at 30 fps at launch. According to Tom's Hardware, Rob Nelson said it's 30 fps "for now" and that he'd need to check with the tech team about 60 fps. No performance mode has been announced for any console, including the Pro.
Rockstar says the roughly 27-minute Extended Look was captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5, and outlets report it was a standard PS5. That's the closest thing we have to an official look at how the game runs.
Controllers and extras
- DualSense: the PlayStation listing mentions vibration and trigger effects, and Sony's blog promotes the game's haptics and adaptive triggers. Two Limited Edition GTA VI DualSense controllers launch on November 19 at $84.99.
- Remote Play is listed on PlayStation, so you can stream the game from your PS5 to another device.
- Xbox: the listing notes achievements and cloud saves.
Xbox Series X or Series S?
Both are supported, and the Xbox listing covers the whole Series X|S family. Rockstar hasn't published differences between the two, so there's no official word on resolution or performance on Series S.
What about PC?
No PC version has been announced. Take-Two has said PC is becoming more important, but that's not an announcement or a date. If PC is your only platform, there's nothing to buy yet. Read where PC stands.
Storage
The download size isn't confirmed. Whichever console you choose, plan to clear space before the November 12 pre-load. Our launch-day checklist will list the exact size as soon as it's published.
How to decide
- Own a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S? Play on it.
- Choosing between PlayStation and Xbox? Go where your friends, saves and subscriptions already are.
- Thinking about a PS5 Pro? Wait for Rockstar to explain the enhancements, or for launch testing.
We'll update this guide the moment performance modes or Pro details are confirmed.
