GTA 6 platforms: PS5 and Xbox Series X|S at launch, with no PC version announced
GTA 6 launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. Here's what the store listings say about PS5 Pro, what previews report on frame rate, and where things stand on PC.

On this page
When Take-Two announced pre-orders on June 24, 2026, it confirmed the platform list that Rockstar first showed in 2023: Grand Theft Auto VI launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That's the whole list. There's no PS4 or Xbox One version, no Switch 2 version and no PC version at launch.
What the store listings say
The console store pages add some useful detail.
| PlayStation Store | Xbox Store | |
|---|---|---|
| Players | 1 player, "Offline play only" | "Single player" |
| Hardware label | PS5 Pro Enhanced | Optimized for Xbox Series X|S |
| Extras | Remote Play, DualSense vibration and trigger effects | Achievements, cloud saves |
| Rating | ESRB M for Mature 17+ (US), PEGI 18 (UK) | ESRB M for Mature 17+ |
Frame rate: 30 fps, for now
Journalists who saw the game at Rockstar North's hands-off preview report that it runs at 30 fps at launch. According to Tom's Hardware, Rob Nelson said it was 30 fps "for now" and that he'd need to check with the tech team about 60 fps. No performance mode has been confirmed on any console.
The Extended Look was captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5, according to Rockstar. Outlets report it was a standard PS5 rather than a Pro.
PlayStation's marketing deal
The official GTA VI site carries a "Plays best on PlayStation 5" badge, and Sony's own blog has promoted the game's DualSense haptics and adaptive triggers. Sony is also selling two Limited Edition DualSense controllers for launch. That's a marketing partnership. Nothing official suggests the Xbox version is missing any features.
What about PC?
No PC version has been announced. In September 2026, Take-Two chief executive Strauss Zelnick said the company wants to launch on platforms with meaningful audiences and that PC is "becoming more and more important", according to GamingBolt's report of his comments. That isn't an announcement, a date or a promise, and we won't treat it as one.
Which console should you play on?
If you already own a PS5 or an Xbox Series X|S, you're set. If you're choosing between them, our PS5 vs PS5 Pro vs Xbox guide compares what each listing confirms, and we'll update it as soon as Rockstar explains the Pro enhancements or any performance options.
